Rohit Gaur builds and runs SqFt Math, free square footage calculators that show their working.
He started the site in September 2026, and his name is on every page of it. This page says what that means: what he does here, how the pages are made, and how to reach him.
What he does here
- Decides what the site covers next, from what people in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia search for.
- Publishes every page and every correction; the changelog dates them.
- Receives the mistakes reported through the “Report a mistake” link under a page’s title.
How the pages are made
Pages on SqFt Math are drafted with an AI assistant. What makes them checkable is not who typed them but what they are held to:
- Every constant and rule is taken from a published source, named with the date it was checked — on the page itself or on the methodology page — or marked as the site’s own assumption.
- Every formula has fixed test cases and property tests that run on every change to the site.
- The calculator’s drawings are tested against the maths: the outline on screen must enclose exactly the area the calculator reports.
- A mistake, once found, is corrected and dated on the changelog.
What the site is not
SqFt Math is not a surveyor, an appraiser or a contractor. Its figures are for planning, ordering materials and checking quotes. Where a number carries legal or financial weight — a sale, a lease, a tax bill — get it from a licensed surveyor or appraiser.
Pages to start with
- The square footage calculator: rooms of any shape, with the working shown.
- How to calculate square footage: the method, step by step.
- Methodology: every formula and conversion constant, with its source.
- Space per person in new US homes: the site’s first study, with its data to download.
