700 square feet (65.0 m²) is a 25 × 28 ft space, or a square about 26.5 ft on each side.
700 square feet is a one-bedroom apartment with a dining table in it, or a small two-bedroom. In metric it is 65 square metres, which puts it above England’s minimum for a two-bedroom, three-person home on one floor — 61 m², or 657 sq ft (nationally described space standard). A one-bedroom, two-person home there has to reach only 50 m² (538 sq ft).
In the United States it is a below-average apartment: the federal energy survey puts the average apartment at 918 sq ft in buildings of five or more units (EIA).
Twenty-five by twenty-eight feet is the round layout, and 20 × 35 the long one. The difference matters at this size: a 20 ft wide floor plan takes a hallway, a 28 ft one can put two rooms side by side and skip it.
