How big is 800 square feet?

800 square feet (74.3 m²) is a 20 × 40 ft space, or 25 × 32 ft laid out squarer.
800 square feet is a two-bedroom apartment or a small bungalow. It is nine tenths of a pickleball court, which is 20 × 44 ft, 880 sq ft (USA Pickleball) — a comparison worth keeping in mind, because a court is a space you have stood in and a floor plan is not.
It clears England’s minimum for a two-bedroom, four-person home on one floor, which is 70 m² (753 sq ft) (nationally described space standard), and it is just under the average American apartment in a large building, 918 sq ft (EIA).
Twenty by forty feet is the layout of a floor in a narrow house; 25 × 32 is the apartment. Either way 800 square feet is the size at which a second bedroom stops taking its space from the living room. For two people that is 400 square feet each, about half the space per person a new US house gives.
